What is Linden Tree?

Linden Tree is more than just a furniture line.

It’s about hope, restoration, second chances…all things made new.  Our inspiration for Linden Tree comes from what we do at Taylor’s Closet.   Taylor’s Closet is an organization in South Florida set up as a boutique open exclusively to girls in foster care.  It’s a place where girls at-risk can come and shop for brand new, designer clothing, all for free, just so they can understand how much they are worth.  Girls come into our store, broken, abused, abandoned and left on the side of the road, all feeling worthless.  We, however, don’t see these girls as hopeless; we see beauty and precious jewels.  We spend time loving them and we watch as transformation happens… newness happens.  They realize for the first time they are lovely; they are worthy.  Girls that were often overlooked and under valued are given a chance to bloom; they realize that all things can be made new.  So it is with Linden Tree, items that at one time would not get a second glance become statement pieces that inspire us.

The name “Linden Tree” is no coincidence.  The tree itself produces oil that aids in the healing process.  Our design team visits thrift stores looking for unwanted pieces of furniture, while others are donated.  We then come up with the vision for each piece.  Every piece of furniture is inspired by one of the girls who visit’s our store.  It has a face, it has a name and it has a story and is etched with the name of girl who it was inspired by.  Linden Tree is our reminder that all things can and will be made new……

- Donate goods such as: sturdy furniture, eco-friendly paints, wallpapers, stains, knobs, or organic upholstery fabrics.
- Volunteer your time by helping us with various tasks we have going on at our store.
- Get the word out! Tell all your friends about us  – the more people know about us, the more we will grow.

Going “GREEN”…

In an effort to join the growing trend of sustainable home living, Linden Tree has decided to go GREEN.  Starting in 2012, our new Awaken & Reveal Collection pieces will all be “eco-friendly”.  Re-purposing old, unwanted wood pieces of furniture by giving them new life is one way in which Linden Tree has been earth-conscious from its very beginning, now we want to take things up a notch.  Our new pieces will all be painted with Benjamin Moore’s Natura Zero-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paint, sealed with earth-friendly sealants and some even wallpapered with ECO’s VOC free wallpaper specially printed on paper from managed sources.

The 2012 line…

Linden Tree’s AWAKEN Collection will highlight Taylor’s Closet’s Awaken mentoring program where girls at risk spend lots of time being taught and nurtured by loving volunteers.  Awaken Collection furniture pieces will feature older, rustic and antique-looking treasures once overlooked as outdated and distressed but given new, beautiful life. 

Linden Tree’s REVEAL Collection will highlight Taylor’s Closet’s Reveal shopping program where girls in the foster care system get the opportunity to shop the store’s brand name clothes for free with the help of a caring style expert.  Reveal Collection furniture pieces will feature vintage and unique mid-century modern pieces given a fresh, delicate and new facelift.
